# My guy is just. Losing leaves 😅. There were a few that were…

My guy is just. Losing leaves 😅. There were a few that were obviously dying so I pulled those off and it took no effort at all to pull the leaf off, so I went around checking the other leaves and the ones still on are the ones firmly still on the stem, but the rest came off so ridiculously easy I’m worried something is wrong 😭 my zebra plant already died and I don’t want another one of my plant babies to die 🥺 also, this guy doesn’t have a name yet so if y’all have idea lemme know 🥰

Is that the soil you bought it in? Looks like it needs a good root check and repotted

What should I look for when I’m checking the roots? I’m a new plant dad and these are my first babies so I’m not super plant savvy yet 😅

You’ll want to see if they’re strong. Rot will smell and they’re usually discolored and easy to pluck off. You’ll need something that drains well, get mix a good soil with perlite, add some small orchid bark and maybe leca. Birkins do best in some full sun

I have some soil that I repotted a couple of my plants with that has perlite and other good stuff; I just though this guy was okay in what he came in, so I’ll definitely get him in new soil asap 🥹👏🏻

I would also ditch the moss it’ll keep the soil too moist

Oh, okay! That how he came so I just assumed it was best for him 😭 I’ll take him out and put him in new soil and not put moss on there 🥰

Dont feel bad at all! Some sellers just do what looks good and not what’s best so that’s not your fault!!

Doing so well, finally through our adjustment period. I did lose some leaves but pretty happy with it.
