# Sylvie is my first philo ever. She’s a cutting from a much larger…

_Posted by Brennah on 2024-01-21_

Sylvie is my first philo ever. She’s a cutting from a much larger mother plant. I’ve had her for roughly 6ish weeks. Can someone tell me if this is a new leaf forming? Or will new leaves grow new stems?

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you in advance!

It looks like the node where you’d first see new growth is under the soil. You could very gently move soil as side and see what’s going on down there

Would this be it? Should I leave it under the soil if so, or uncover it?

Yeah that’s it. I would try to make it so at leas the top is exposed to air. I know it’s tricky when the plant and roots are small
