# Hi there! I am in need some advice on what to do with my red emerald…

Hi there! I am in need some advice on what to do with my red emerald philodendron that has grown so much this season! I am fairly new to the plant world but I was gifted this plant a little over a year ago as a clipping with only 2 leaves. The stem on the first foot of growth is very thin and as we get to the next 6 inches the stem has doubled almost tripled in size. So my question is- should I snip the stem below where it starts to get thicker and propagate it to grow new roots and start a new plant or continute to grow it with lots of support?? I’m afraid to take the plunge of cutting because I would be so devasted if anything happened to it after! Any help or tips and tricks would be so appreciated!! Thank you friends :)
