# I just got a golden pothos yesterday from the plant store and this…

_Posted by Sunny Do on 2024-02-29_

I just got a golden pothos yesterday from the plant store and this morning I realized that there are tiny (like 3-4) brown spots, one or two spots on a couple of leaves. I live in Canada, the plant is placed in a place where it’s getting indirect sunlight, haven’t watered because the soil is not dry. So I was wondering if there’s anything wrong with it?

just tagging on some photos for reference, I found these small spots and (and upon closer inspection, holes!) when I repotted and hung my pothos, but since then the new leaves are unfurling completely fine, and she’s doing great! Lots of new growth and the spots aren’t moving or spreading. I assume the blemishes are from when the plant was in the store’s care — I’m very new to handling plants and I assume they’re probably from sun damage (def correct me if i’m wrong lol) But i hope at least my experience reassures you with yours! The rest of the plant looks gorgeous! :)

It might be from over/underwatering or too much light. Mine is like that currently (I got it this month). Most stores don’t know how to properly care for plants

I’ve learned the hard way to always check for pests when buying a new plant. Not saying this is for sure a pest problem but I recommend looking very closely to see if you see signs of spider mites. They leave behind tiny webbing and you’ll notice lots of residue/dirt litter on the bottom of leaves. The spider mites look like tiny dots. I treat every newly purchased plant with a good shower and Neem oil from now on just incase.
