(Please ignore that there’s currently no water in this jug, just brought it back in the car!! It has since been refilled)
Hi! Does anyone know what pothos this is specifically? I was given it as my parents are moving and they are trying to declutter. I’m also wondering, do pothos’ grow well in water? That’s how my parents had kept it for a few years but it’s obviously quite droopy. Might just be that the jug needs a good clean and a swap out of water more frequently though. Any help is appreciated, thanks!!

Golden pothos! They do grow well in water but water doesn't have much nutrients. Be careful if you do transplant it into soil as it won't be used to it

Golden pothos.
The cuttings are too long to propagate. The vines have no roots to draw up sufficient water to support those long cuttings and they will look limp and start to die off.

I recommend dividing the vines into smaller sections with 3 nodes or less. Put one or two nodes under water. Remove all leaves below water to prevent rot and bacterial growth.

I typically change the water at least once a week or earlier if cloudy. I add SuperThrive plant vitamin drops to the water when new roots appear. I add diluted fertilizer as well. Transplant to soil when the roots are at least 2 inches long, typically 3 weeks after taking a cutting. I add rooting hormone powder when planting in soil. 🍀🪴

You can grow photos hydroponically. It requires more maintenance than growing in soil to get the plants to thrive.

They grow well in water. Just find a bright area and clean out the water every 2weeks.
