Hey guys! My sister gifted me this beauty about a month ago because she thought she was gonna kill it (lol) it has these weird dried parts that I’m wondering if I should just cut and propagate or if I can do something else to make it look better. The rest of the plant seems to be growing well everywhere else after it was gifted to me, but this area seems to be struggling

Those are aerial roots! Perfectly normal, don’t cut them off. You can cut that part to propagate if you want- those “dry parts” is where the new roots will grow

Thank you so much! Do you have any tips on propagating? I’ve never worked with this type on plant so I’m very new to this.

Just cut the stem so that you have a few of those nodes, and then put in water! Make sure there aren’t any leaves in the water, they’ll rot. It usually doesn’t take too long to start rooting. Make sure to change out the water about once a week so that the stem doesn’t rot . I like to let several roots grow and get pretty long before I transfer to soil. You can also just leave them in water and never transfer to soil!
