Hey I’m new to having plants! Does anyone know what type of plant this is, and do you have any tips on caring for this plant!?

Hi, welcome!  
Looks like a golden pothos to me - a general tip I have is to use Planta as a guideline, but always check the moisture of the soil (eg. with your finger, down into the pot an inch or 2) before you actually water! Overwatering is the most common problem with houseplants.  
A fun fact I recently learned about pothos: pothos cuttings can stimulate root growth if placed with other plants’ cuttings during propagation! 😃

I have one and it’s my one of my favorite plants. It’s not happy in direct sunlight, and mine loves being misted regularly. My cuttings have never failed me and I add them to other potted plants that make a nice touch. Needless to say I love my Pothos. Enjoy yours 👍🏻

This is definitely a golden pothos. They’re super easy, because they thrive in bright indirect light and need to fully dry out before watering. Also, I don’t recommend misting your plants, because it can cause fungal and bacterial issues, which are really annoying to deal with.
