# Hi all, I've got my pride and joy Steven here (attached). Up until…

Hi all, I've got my pride and joy Steven here (attached). Up until recently I had been caring for him as per generic cactus instructions but when he started to show a few signs of root rot I wanted to look at a more specific guide. I can't seem to find the tag with his scientific name but if I recall correctly Google images of that name looked nothing like him - some kid at the garden centre must have swapped out the tags. Does anyone know what kind of cactus he is? (and if possible any recovery instructions - he hasn't been the same ever since one overwatering a few months to a year ago, I know, I feel ashamed for waiting so long to find proper recovery instructions.). Thanks!

You may want to look up 'corking' it's hard to see in the pics, but the main difference between that and rotting, is you can peel off the corking with tweezers, it'll be dry and papery.
