# My Hoya ‘Mathilde’ is working on its first set of flowers. I’m so…

My Hoya ‘Mathilde’ is working on its first set of flowers. I’m so excited to see it bloom, but I was wondering if any Hoya experts could tell me how long I should expect to wait until they bloom once they’re at this stage. I’d also love to see what the flowers look like on anyone else’s Hoya of this cultivar, or what they’ve found theirs smell like, as I’ve heard the scent can vary even within the same cultivar. Thanks in advance! 😊

I’m not a Hoya expert but those are beautiful, I hope their blooms are wonderful!

Thank you 😊 Me too! I’m in no way new to houseplants, but this is my first Hoya, and the first one I’ve gotten to bloom. I’m really excited to see what they look like in real life, and smell like, since I’ve heard such a vast range of scents for Hoyas. 🌸

Same I only have one Hoya too it’s a hybrid between a lipstick plant though so it different. The last flowers I have had were a light sweet sent!

Ooh, I’ve never heard of a hybrid between a Hoya and an Aeschynanthus. I love lipstick plants. 🥰 Do you have any photos of it?

Yes I do I thought it was just a lipstick first but when I looked it up it said the type was bred between the two! It flowered about one and a half months ago

Floral with more earthy undertones…slightly like cedar maybe??? Some people think they stink but I don’t

Back with a (belated) update! Mine smell somewhere between a rose and gardenia, leaning more on a rose as the blooms age.
