# Hi Hoya community I need to pick your brains. Is it normal for a Hoya…

Hi Hoya community
I need to pick your brains. Is it normal for a Hoya to throw its flower pods from the first peduncle? I had a sigillatus blossom but this morning it has tossed all pods o the ground. Why? Did I move it too much when watering? Did I water too much? Or too little? She lives in my office where the temp is constant 75-82 with humidity range of 45-70. I think it’s normal but need some reassurance. Thanks!

Unfortunately this happens a lot. They call it “blasting”. It can happen for various reasons. I have one Hoya with about 10 peduncles and it tried to flower several times and kept dropping the buds. I had it under-potted and it was drying out too fast so it thought it couldn’t sustain flowering. Don’t worry. I just had a new peduncle FALL OFF of my Meredithii. I have a Mathilde with about 20 peduncles that will not flower for me no matter what and then there’s the lacunosas and the krohnianas that literally perfume my entire house on a regular basis. Hoyas can be weird.

Thank you so much for the reply! I love Hoyas and dislike this part. lol!

The anticipation let down is a total buzzkill. I’d be laying in bed at night and I’d hear the little buds start falling and bouncing off the dresser. I’d sigh with frustration and my husband started to know it was that “one plant” I was moaning about…littering my carpet with her potentially beautiful flowers. Still awaiting for her to bloom after her repot. She hasn’t even tried.

Haha! I can only imagine your frustration when hearing those drop. Omg I’d be so upset!!! I was totally bummed when I walked into the office yesterday and saw all pods had dropped. What do you think about moving them
When in flower? Does that have an impact on if they will or won’t blast? I have to move Sig to water her and I wonder if she hates that.
