Hi there and welcome to the Planta Community!
Our community is a great place to get help and advice from other plant enthusiasts as well as share photos and experiences or just chat about shared interests. To make sure our community remains an enjoyable, constructive and safe place to spend your time, we have listed some guidelines for all members to follow.
What are the basics?
Be kind and respectful to each other.
Choose the right group for your post (read the descriptions at the top of each group and check out the content there first).
Don’t make duplicate posts across multiple groups.
Keep the community a nice place to be by reporting posts that don’t follow the Community Guidelines.

Community Guidelines
No personal info
Although this is a small community of plant lovers, it can be viewed by anyone. Your username will be visible to everyone but can choose to set your profile to private if you don’t want to share any more information than that. For your safety and privacy, please do not post personal details such as phone numbers, address details, or email addresses.
If your profile is set to public, other users will be able to see the username, bio, sites, plants, and pictures on your account.
Your personal details and complete account information will only be available to Planta staff and will be treated in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Respect each other
New members and regular contributors alike - everyone has the right to post their views, as well as ask a question, regardless of their knowledge.
2.1 Don’t hold other members up for negative judgement or belittle them if they get something wrong; we were all learners once! It’s a great opportunity for you to teach them about plants as well as the community.
2.2 If you see some advice you disagree with, do so respectfully.
2.3 Be pleasant and constructive – no offensive, defamatory or abusive language.
2.4 Using inappropriate, bullying, or offensive language (as determined by the Community team) in posts, profiles, avatars, or usernames isn’t allowed. Community managers will determine the appropriate actions to take in the case this occurs.
Choose the right group
Please read the group descriptions carefully before choosing where to write your post. There is some crossover between groups but not every group is appropriate for every plant or situation. Posts that obviously don’t belong in a particular group may be removed.
3.1 If you see a post in the wrong group please either kindly inform the poster of a more suitable group or report the post so that our Community team can take a look.
3.2 Don’t make identical posts in multiple groups. We understand that different members belong to different groups but to keep the newsfeed enjoyable for everyone, these will be treated as duplicate posts and removed. Be sure to choose one group you want to share with.
3.3 In the case you find yourself wishing for a group that isn’t yet available, you can let us know in the Feedback on Planta group or by reaching out to us.
Misinformation
We understand that not everyone is an expert and all are free to share their opinions, but blatant misinformation isn't permitted on the Planta community. The definition of 'misinformation' is determined by the Community team and in these cases, your post may be removed.
4.1 If you see misinformation being shared, please comment with education in mind. Everyone should have the chance to learn. You can also report the post to us for review.
Community self-moderating
Self-moderation is a healthy part of any community. If you see something that you think needs to be addressed, feel free to report it so that it can be looked at.
Advertising
No advertising of items for sale or external commercial websites/web-pages offering products for sale.
6.1 Of course you can discuss product recommendations, shops you love, or local sales-- just no selling or advertising on the community please.
6.2 Please do not use this community to advertise or promote other apps.
Breach of guidelines
Any breach of these guidelines may result in editing or removal of comments/posts or may result in a temporary or permanent suspension from the community – however, the Community team will attempt to reconcile any issues through discussion before a suspension is even considered in most cases.
Disputes
In the event of disputes or clarification on any of the guidelines the Planta Community Team’s decision is final.
8.1 If the Community team sends you a message to discuss community conduct, guideline issues or anything else, we'd really like to chat with you and see if we can find some middle-ground. You may not always agree with our actions, but private messages are there for us to explain why we do things (always for the greater good of the community). We will use the email address associated to your account to contact you if necessary.
Content
The majority of Content posted on the Community is created by Planta users. The views expressed are theirs and unless specifically stated are not ours. We are not responsible for any content posted by members of the public on the Planta Community. Any content that needs to be removed as a breach of any guidelines will be done so by the Community team.
Updating of the guidelines
Please note these guidelines are subject to updates without notice. We urge members to check these guidelines on a regular basis. For a full set of Planta Community terms and conditions, please visit this page.
